    6.0L low turbo boost

My buddy was repairing a 6.0L that had what seemed like a miss fire. Come to find out the number 6 injector was bad, and had to be replaced. The truck owner only wanted that one done, and needed his truck back pretty quickly for work. However, now he has called my buddy to tell him now his truck will not build more than 10psi of boost... He said normally the truck would be around 20psi. With that said, what would cause this decrease in boost? I've already directed my buddy to the site here, and emailed him this link that I found here the the 6.0L stickies, http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/60bulletin.htm but if there is something else that would cause this issue, and someone has found and solved it, would you mind sharing the answer.

Can he hear an extra whine when the truck is running or tryin to build boost? Hopefully its a simple boost leak.

Yep, already thought of that Nick. The owner says he's not hearing anything out of the normal. I told my buddy to have the guy go back to his place, and take a listen for it. An particular spot he may want to focus on? I'd imagine the inlet yes?

They could have not gotten the intake on with good gaskets. A vacuum hose on the passenger side intake runner could be in the wrong spot. Easiest way i know of is to have someone under the hood while running the RPM up some to hear for a leak. If they didnt get the up pipe on the turbo all the way it would cause low boost as well. That lil pipe can be a PITA to get on and I have had to fight one a few time before.

Enjoy a chilled one - Tech Guy
Is it driving the same under light load? I had this happen to me a few times if my truck was not used enough. The variable vanes would stick and I could only build very little boost. Its probably a leak as stated above but incase its not, I would look at that.

Check all boots especially coming off the turbo hard to see the back side, up pipe connection, "Y"pipe for connection and cracked bellows. Here some diagnostic info.

Might also be his VGT is sticking and needs to be cleaned.

When was the last time the EGR valve was cleaned? What caused the injector to fail, stiction? Weak FICM and/or low fuel psi can cause injector failure.

My buddy says he never removed any of the boots or anything. The truck owner only wanted the bad injector replaced. It was one on the driver side, and my buddy said he only moved a few things out of the way to get to the bad injector. I'll pass all this information along to him for things to look for. My buddy said after he replaced the injector they took it down the road back and forth a couple times, and all seemed normal. It was a couple days later that this turbo issue started. It's a field truck, so it sat over the weekend I believe before it was actually sent on a call. If it is the vains, how do you get that issue solved? OH and this guy had a series water in fuel issue too.
